Experience Overview

Try your hand at letterpress printing using vintage type and presses in a working letterpress studio and create your own unique hand-printed poster.

What you will do

When you arrive at my studio I will explain the basics of letterpress printing and give a demonstration of my presses. Once you have explored the many different trays of wooden and metal type and blocks I will show you how to set up a poster to print. You can print anything from a favourite quote, phrase or lyric to family names, special places and memories. You will choose and mix the ink, ink up your set type and print. You can choose to print a poster up to A3 in size, or if you prefer a set of greeting cards or stationery. While we're setting and printing there is always time for coffee and cake! By the end of session you will come away with at least one poster or set of cards and, hopefully a new love of type and printing.

What's included

All materials to print your posters or cards are included. Tea, coffee and cake are provided. Please let me know if you have any food allergies.

What I might need

There's no need to bring anything except some ideas of what you would like to print.

About the host

My background is in publishing and I have always had a love of words. My letterpress journey began at a one day workshop. I loved it so much I bought a small press and some type and began experimenting. My collection quickly expanded and in 2014 I started selling letterpress printed stationery and cards on Etsy. In 2020 I moved into my studio and since then have been running regular print workshops. Its always a joy to share my love of letterpress and see the amazing prints that people produce.
